Four Brothers Ordained as Deacons for the Archdiocese of Colombo

The Archdiocese of Colombo joyfully celebrated the ordination of four brothers to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate on 7 February, during a solemn liturgical celebration held at the Sacred Heart Chapel.

The ordination was presided over by Bishop Anton Ranjith, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo. Family members, clergy, religious, and faithful from various parishes gathered to witness and give thanks for this important moment in the lives of the newly ordained deacons.

Rev. Deacon Lasal Priyankara

Son of Mr. G. S. Newton Gamini and Ms. Anne Pushpakumari, Rev. Deacon Lasal Priyankara belongs to St. Francis de Sales Church, Kattuwa. He has been assigned to serve at St. Sebastian’s Shrine, Kandana.

Rev. Deacon Shalanka Madushanka Ranasinghe

Son of Mr. R. A. Rexi Perera and Mrs. K. A. Maristella Perera, Rev. Deacon Shalanka Madushanka Ranasinghe is from St. Francis de Sales Church, Dalugama. He has been assigned to serve at Queen of Angels Church, Rawatawatta.

Rev. Deacon Asitha Sriyantha

Son of the late Mr. K. D. Sunil Shantha and Ms. Sisilda Perera, Rev. Deacon Asitha Sriyantha belongs to St. Francis Xavier’s Church, Wewala. He has been assigned to serve at St. Mary’s Church, Nayakakanda.

Rev. Deacon Shehan Dilruk

Son of Mr. A. G. Danesh Sasanka Seneviratne and Ms. Seetha Kumari Seneviratne, Rev. Deacon Shehan Dilruk belongs to St. Anthony’s Church, Kirimetiyagara. He has been assigned to serve at St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya.

The Archdiocese invites the faithful to keep these newly ordained deacons in prayer, asking the Lord to strengthen them with wisdom, humility, and pastoral zeal as they begin their diaconal ministry. Their ordination is a sign of hope and a reminder of God’s continued call to serve His people through the Church.
